We are blessed with fabulous talent on this planet. I am in constant amazement at the gifts individuals possess, hidden from the major spotlight of fame. In fact many of these highly skilled and artistic people are far more endowed than those represented in expensive fine art galleries and/or the top twenty music spot.
We were fortunate this past weekend to discover such a talent. Wanting to do something new for a change, we went to an old funky venue in SE Portland. The Aladdin Theater, was built in the 1920’s for vaudeville and later converted in the 30’s to a theater. The magic of these by-gone eras is still captured in the walls and fixtures, the red seats old, created for a generation of smaller, thinner people, rickety and crunchy from use. A Canadian band, The Paperboys, was the top billing, promoted as a Latin/Celtic/Reggae fusion. The musicians were totally awesome, fun, masterly and adeptly proficient on the various infusion of voice and instruments.
My invitation is to listen to their eclectic mix of rhythm and soul, Celtic and Latin. Please consider supporting them and other fellow artists and musicians who work for dirt and play with heart and help their voices be heard.
This is also a call to spirit to find your creative muse, reaching in to pull out every artistic fiber within you and discover where your talents reside. We each have a gift.
Cosmic sunshine to you.
