I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get overloaded and overwhelmed with the barrage of marketing, email blitzes, Facebook promotions, and commercials on everything from YouTube to blogs, mine included. I try and stay abreast of what is happening currently, at the same time I want to turn everything off. I realize it’s about staying engaged in having a conversation, even if that conversation is wrapped around sales, marketing, business savviness etc.
I have taken my share of classes, read business books to learn about the latest and greatest marketing strategies, and hired consultants. But to be truthful, I can only be me. I have to be authentic to myself first. That hard core push isn’t who I am. But it’s discouraging too, when you think you “should” be doing something a particular way to stay on top of the game. So today when I “asked for clarity” and randomly opened a page of A New Interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, the perfect as always, section appeared.
“Conversation”
Do not talk of fame and reputation,
Either of yourselves or others.
Such conversations are illusions
And do not contribute to your joy and peace.
Your conversations help create your world.
Speak of delight, not dissatisfaction.
Speak up hope, not despair.
Let your words bind up wounds,
Not cause them.
This obviously speaks to all conversations, though it appeared today in regards to business conversations. I love the synchronicity. Of course, there are no accidents. I feel this is something to live by daily, especially “your conversations help create your world.”
This is in total alignment with my belief that we are the sum total of all of our thoughts, actions, deeds and conversations. We are where we are because of how we believe, think and speak. Our words matter, whether spoken or written.
Here’s to mindful, delightful and loving conversations, both personally and in business.
Cosmic sunshine to you.
