“The “I” of the Storm”

I’ve been living in a maelstrom.  We have moved the six week “move” up to a week, two weeks ago my husband’s right eye went blind in three days, a tumor detected behind the eye. We have had him on intensive IV supplementation, diet, vitamins, immune boosters, high alkaline water and are now adding in mainstream oncology, radiation and possible surgery. It’s my son’s 24th birthday today and we’re having a celebration in his honor. And to top the list, my cat got out yesterday and is still missing. Other than going through my divorce, this is definitely the most challenging and stressful chapter I’ve ever experienced. I’m living on little sleep, have a thousand mile list daily, and managing a business. Pure craziness ~ thankfully I have the skills and tools I do. I can only imagine what it’d  be like if I didn’t. Not everyone has coping skills. I have great empathy.

It’s easy to get caught in the spin of the hurricane, out of control, anxiety ridden, frustration oozing with every sentence. It’s then when you feel out of control, not in charge of your own destination. When you stay in that emotional location, things get destroyed, demolished and broken into tiny shards difficult to reassemble. Relations suffer, careers end, health becomes disease.  At this point, it’s crucial to move to the center, your core, your light. Literally the eye of the storm. The ~”I”~of ~the~Storm. This is where calm prevails, strength resides and peace is eminent. It’s quiet here, away from the rushing cyclone winds and fast tides. A place where choices and directions are visible and healthy action becomes possible.

Another valuable factor is remembering, “it’s not always your story.” In my example, this is my husband’s journey through cancer. I am here as his best ally, friend, confident. I am his rock, his soldier, his cheerleader, yet it’s still not mine to own. I’m good at doing that, fixing things that aren’t mine to fix, taking too much on my shoulders. From experience, it doesn’t work. What does, is letting go, allowing the Divine to assist and residing in the eye, the “I” of my Light. My peace, my part of the story.

Currently you may not be at a place of high turbulence, however, when the storm passes your direction, step into the center, find the quiet. It allows for wisdom to settle in like light soft rain touching your skin. Soak it up.

Cosmic sunshine to you.
