Yes, No, Maybe: How to Make the Best Possible Choices”

Decisions can be complicated. So much on the line. The spin-off or actually “spin-out” ~ much like centrifugal force spinning out color and energy ~ emotionally impacts those in your sphere; this is daunting. It can be easier to punt rather than decide what to do – next. The “next” is the key….nothing is forever. Your decision will impact the next chapter however the following chapters fill out your life with drama, verve and experience. In other words, the script of life takes over. Why? Because you’re the master story teller and you are creating your masterpiece daily.

There is this incredibly talented late twenty-something young man stuck in life’s choices, directions and relationships.  His life is just beginning to unfold much like a lotus blossom ready to bloom with many golden opportunities ahead. However, brain cloudiness ensues; his head and ego say one thing, his heart something similar but just a path over. Close but with a different final destination. What to do? What career to follow, where to move?  Stay in the comfortable several-year-relationship that’s 75% good and safe, or break away, deal with the pain and move on? Really tough choices! Not easy and no one can decide for him.

This juncture isn’t unique. Everyone comes to major crossroads and choices have to be made. Divorce or stay? Move or settle? Expand or retract or even stay static? Change food choices? Decide, decide, decide. Choose or die ~ emotionally, mentally, spiritually and/or physically. Yes, No, Maybe?

Even though it’s really really complicated, it’s actually fairly simple:

Your brain is your computer and reacts based on the programs you’ve installed in it: education, surroundings, details. Your mind responds to beliefs and experiences, your ego filtering one from another urging you onward based on stimulus and fear. Your heart on the other hand, is the gateway to the subconscious, the eternal part of your soul which has the answers you seek. As Matthew shared Jesus’ teachings in 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” The door is your heart. It will guide you on the right course every single time, if you get your head out of the way and listen and truly “feel” the answer within.

Honestly, it’s difficult to get your head out of the way, so I’ll share a tool I’ve used for decades ~ take your head off ~  literally, like a mime, and set it on the table. Drop your energy into your heart. Feel the animation. If it opens fully and completely ~ no half-assed on this ~ you have the right answer. However if it stays closed or even half way, it’s clear this is not the best choice, the best decision. It’s still the “maybe” till you listen again asking the right question.

Whenever those crossroads arrive, and they do, be the mime, get your head out of the way. Trust your heart. It’ll open up possibilities you never knew existed.

Cosmic sunshine to you.
