Over the weekend my step-son was married. The first of our four kids- very exciting. He was so handsome, sparkling “excited” eyes bright with anticipation, she, glamorous in her long flowing dress, ready for adventure. The wedding went off without a glitch; even the weather cooperated as the days before had seen buckets of rain.
There is nothing more special than to openly celebrate the joining of two souls, the recognition of deep commitment and intense love. In truth, we all love “love!”
Weddings, or the joining of two souls, have been a symbolic tradition for millennia, represent the union of the masculine-feminine principles within ourselves. Learning how to balance the energies within our own psyches– masculine ~ to do, take action, outwardly yang energy, and feminine ~ inwardly yin energy, receptive, intuitive, enables us to be not only be better people, but better partners within our sacred union. We learn from each other. Both sexes, both principles, are essential for emotional, mental and spiritual expansion in all our relations.
Combining the masculine, “talking” (outward action…funny we always associate that with women,) and “listening,” (receptive, feminine,) creates the best ingredient in any relationship: communication, speaking the same language. These two definitely articulate and verbalize in the same dialect, in tandem hearing what the other is saying. They listen and pay attention to nuances, take care of the other’s wants, needs and desires, putting the relationship on equal footing, honoring the specialness. In other words, they play well with each other without expecting each other to be someone other than who they are. It’s awesome!
And blissful, united, committed “Love” answers the question of “why are we here?” Love opens “hearts” and doorways into hidden emotional territory, deep interior treasure troves of experiences. These important passageways light up with focus, our gaze directed inward, to examine who we truly are and more importantly who we want to become. It’s the alchemy of weddings- they open up that “magical love” doorway within ourselves asking us to surrender to the possibilities, the potential of the best within ourselves, and seeing it in everyone around us. What a gift.
I’m thrilled for my son of twelve years to be moving forward in such a powerfully positive direction. It’s heart warming to witness. I love my new daughter-in-law, she’s a great addition to the family.
Listening to the heart languages within ourselves is essential. A wedding is the perfect symbol of that special romantic, amorous, enchanting, idyllic, mysterious synergy.
Here’s to loving love.
Cosmic sunshine to you.
