Here’s a question. Have you ever considered what truly gets your blood boiling-excited enough to spike your heart rate not-quite-over-the-edge but close?
With the advent of FitBit and Garmins and all the other units available to monitor our vitals we now have the ability to see up-front and personal what really curls our toes. What and where our joys and thrills and happiness reside. That anticipatory excitement. Our bodies reveal the truth every time.
I’ve been in this quasi-convo about this topic with a man who’s heart rate literally peaks everytime he has a fish on his line. He’s fishes year round by-the-way so has those happy-heart-spikes happen on a perpetual cycle. Those spikes turn on that brain-bliss-modemarrying zen and desirewithin his mind-body connection. Or when he’s turning right-left right-left on endless curvy roads with his Harley. The fish and bike spike his rate even more so than when he’s sexually aroused and excited. Pretty revealing. Could be disappointing from a certain perspective. 😉 But what’s it’s done for me is made me ask myself what gets my heart rate happy-excited-spiked-high?
To segue for a moment, if we dig honestly into our psyches usually it’s anxiety and or fear that gets us to those heart-pounding peaks, such as before a big meeting, speaking in front of a crowd, fear of flying, large crowds, tests, confronting difficult conversations, ad infinitum. There’s also the physical exertion heart-spike from pushing ourselves in sports activities.
So what spikes my heart? Spikes my bliss to generate that zen and desire brain activation? Where does my anticipation lie where my body literally responds to reveal my inner excitements? Skiing hard and fast of course, that’s a given. Hiking on demanding terrain, yep. Sex is right up there. But what I also discerned is even though I’m usually going and doing I’m also even-keeled, not overly anxious. I wonder if that has any bearing on the spiking outcome? Good question. It’s made me contemplate what do I want to add into my life that would generate that kind of spiked anticipation?
Think about it. What do you have in your life that throws you that exhilaration-curve-ball? Makes you desire more of it? We are talking healthy here. Not bad habits and addictions. Those feed empty holes within your inner core. Every time behaviors are repeated based on poor choices and wrong motivations even if they momentarily feel good, like too much alcohol, chocolate cake, unconscious sex, etc, nothing within you actually expands, turns on that zen-desire-bliss mode. Our consciousness knows the difference. Our body does too, even if shrouded in high blood-sugar spikes, drugged or smells of sex. Bottom line to ask does this expand or retract my inner being, my consciousness? If it expands then you know it’s true Zen desire.
If you happen to have one of these strap-on-tech monitors watch your peaks and valleys. Check them against your activities, see what really curls your toes. And if things are too flatlined perhaps it’s time to add in some new anticipation. Even if you don’t have a FitBit or Garmin – I don’t – if you pay close attention you will know what really truly curls your toes creating anticipation and Zen all in one magical bliss moment.
Just desiring to spike some new anticipation into your orbit.
Cosmic sunshine to you.☀️
