The alarm blares startling you out of a deep warm happy slumber. You reach groggily for the button to turn the damn thing off, or push the snooze button for another blissful ten. It’s the Activation Point, the moment the brain goes from a calm meditative state to fully awake with no foreplay. Personally I’m a fan of foreplay in any format.
From my perspective, this blast of noise, sensation, and stress producing hormones is the norm in life, from joining the morning activities to being sideswiped over the course of the day with demands of immediate attention. There’s no foreplay. And we wonder why we are worn out, exhausted and just plain tired by the evening with no thought of foreplay with our significant loved one.?.? The Activation Point has been continually pushed all day.
Sooo? What to do? How to change the iternary? Add some foreplay? It starts with another mindful dance around the playground. Seriously. It begins in our minds. Imagine listening to a favorite song, the volume low and hushed then progressing to a reasonable level. This gradual progression is the desired state we want to achieve in any situation from waking up, to key workday moments, dealing with screaming children to sex. We are in charge of how we perceive any situation. Imagine an Activation dial in our minds. Turn it off, then gradually to low and gentle, to mid range and then full throttle. We are in total control. In any given moment we can turn it down then slowly dial it up again to assess any situation and proceed accordingly. From a state of grace or out of control, holding the handle or at the end of the whip. It’s up to us.
When we can get in the positive habit of keeping our own Activation Points dialed at our optimal progression it can literally turn the day around in a very positive way. Adrenal stress drops, energy builds, fatigue lessens. Then personal foreplay has the op to build momentum with pleasure the treasure chest at the end of the rainbow.
